My eQuals allows Education Providers to certify and upload digital versions of academic transcripts and graduation documents. Students and graduates can then access these documents and share them with employers, education providers and third parties in a controlled and secure online environment.

Currently, the following digital documents are available through the My eQuals platform:

• Award certificates

• Badges

• Transcripts

• Australian Higher Education Graduation Statements (AHEGS) for Australian universities

• Qualification Statements and Statements of Attainment for Vocational students studying at participating education providers

• Formal letters from New Zealand Education Providers

The student, graduate or alumnus controls their My eQuals credentials and who they share them with. Simply ask the person to share them with you by sending you a secure link through which you can view and verify their credentials.

Students and graduates can also download a cryptographically signed PDF copy of the document and upload it during your application process, or attach to an email to you.

Academic qualifications of graduates can be verified using the services of the My eQuals verification partner RapidID-Xref. Qualifications for graduates can be verified in real-time providing you with a fast and definitive response for your hiring processes.

The digital documents that you view on the My eQuals platform have been issued by a university, TAFE or approved tertiary education organisation and are authentic certified copies.

My eQuals utilises advanced cryptographic hardware and banking-level security to produce, and certify digital documents compliant with Australian and international legal and privacy standards. My eQuals also uses advanced electronic signatures which are compliant with EU Digital Signatures Directive 1999/93/EC and national enacting legislation. My eQuals documents are both legally valid and tamper-evident.

You can print a copy of the credentials that have been shared with you. However, once printed, digital credentials are no longer considered authentic as they do not contain the security features of the online or PDF digital versions.

Absolutely. My eQuals is the result of a collaborative initiative involving more than 50 participating universities, TAFEs and other education providers. It is a shared platform that is owned by the participants and the digital documents that are accessible through the platform are provisioned by those same participants.

A shared platform has many benefits, including:

• The ability for students, graduates and alumni who have studied at multiple institutions to access their documents from a single place

• The ability for Verifiers and other recipients to view and verify records from a single place, regardless of the institution where the student or graduate obtained their degree

• Greater levels of standardisation, recognition and adoption

• Greater ability to invest in the platform and develop new functionality that will benefit all students, graduates and participants

My eQuals is managed on behalf of the Australian and New Zealand higher education sector by HES, a not-for-profit company owned by Universities Australia.

Universities, TAFEs and other official tertiary education organisations are likely to continue to issue physical Degree Certificates/ Testamurs on graduation. Outside graduation, and for other documents, education providers will increasingly move to digital documents issued through My eQuals.

Organisations that receive large volumes of My eQuals documents and credentials may benefit from being set up as a Receiving Organisation. Being a Receiving Organisation provides you with your own My eQuals portal and various options to help in managing records.
